the looking glass

on the online class i class i took with wilna she had a project where she used mirror tiles on a mirror album by heidi swapp. i couldn't find a mirror album around these parts so i used chipboard instead and covered the whole front in the broken tiles. what i liked about this idea was that you just use regular old glue that dries clear as the grout so when it dries you see the background paper through the cracks. i used an alpha stamps collage sheet image and saying to make the front. i'm thinking i'm still going to add some ribbons, charms, tags to the bottom...but i just haven't figured it out as of yet.

here's another

this morning i found myself totally unproductive and just fooling around with this and that and not accomplishing much of anything. did you ever have one of those mornings? so i decided to just go make some art. i'm thinking i might make some copies of a few of these postcards to either give as gifts or to sell. here's one that might go well as a package with the one i did last night.

creating art

today was filled with lots of things to keep me busy and not creating art. one of those things was the first day back to bible study and it was good to see the girls once again. we talked a great deal today about forgiveness as part of our lesson. as always , when i sit and listen to other people's perspectives it makes me realize how blessed i am to have the life i have. and doing art is certainly one of my many blessings i am thankful for. so tonight when i had time to sit and do a little art i made a postcard in ode to "forgiveness".

another wilna class project

yesterday's in the coffee and cupcakes class our project was to take a starbuck's sleeve and turn it into a mini journal. it would make a great idea for a card as well. i turned mine into a cupcake love fest. i'm not quite sure it is done as i'd love to add some tabs and fibers but i'm not quite sure where or how i'll do that at this moment.

an online class

i'm taking wilna's class (see banner on right side of page) and our first project she created for us was to work with a starbucks coffee cup to make a little journal. it's such a great project. i can see other cups being used, different subjects, etc. i'm not done with inside as i'm not sure what i'm going to make it into as of yet. someone suggested making it into my favorite cupcake recipes. i kind of like that idea. i didn't show all the pages but at least you can get an idea of what it is like.

cupcakes, cupcakes, cupcakes

every one who knows me knows i'm just crazy about cupcakes. something about those little individual cakes that drives me mad. i've often said that if i could be anything i'd be a cupcake.
yum. yesterday i bought a little set of cupcake stamps and used a couple of them to make wings on a cupcake fairy postcard.

making atc's

it's been some time since i made an artist trading card (atc). one of my art friends is hosting a swap at the mail art world site about the painted page. unfortunately my scan doesn't show that you can see the text of the page too well but the old sheet music page is painted as well. isn't the crow neat? if you're interested in having some of them in your art stash check out www.alphastamps.com. it's a transparent sticker sheet of different designs. here are a few atc's i've used them on.

busy as a bee

today was a great day for creating art. it rained outside all day which made me skip running errands. i hung out out at the art desk for most of the day. i managed to get my recipe cards done for a swap i'm hosting, a rolodex card, and a couple of postcards. here's one of the postcards i did using my new unity stamps i got in the mail the other day.

wednesday creations

i had time to work on a few things this afternoon. the mermaid is a postcard for a themed postcard trade on mail art world site. the theme was "school". i knew most of the people would probably do something around teachers and/or students so i wanted to do something a little different. the little houses is also a postcard. it was fun to dig out my watercolors and splash around a bit.

believe it or not

contrary to popular belief i actually do make other things besides postcards. i originally started out in rubber stamping, which i still LOVE doing today, so i use to make tons of cards. since today is my dad's birthday and i always try to make a special card for him. i actually think my mom, who is an artist as well, looks forward to when holidays and birthdays roll around because she knows she'll get a special handmade card. so today i worked on this birthday card for my dad.

uh oh....

does this rolo look familiar to any one? it wasn't made by me but by lisa (aka electablue) a fellow artist friend on mail art world. there is quite the story behind this postcard. i will shorten the story quite a bit and just get to the part that i actually was the lucky recipient of receiving it. so, to all of you who tried to trick it away from me, this flag's for you!
