documented life project

this week's prompt for the documented life project was to add a quote to your art.  my quote is by mary oliver:  "sometimes i need only to stand wherever i am to be blessed."   how true that is and resonates deep within my soul.  god has seen fit to bless me and i am forever grateful.

along for the ride

my friend, patricia bober was recently published in stamper's sampler magazine.  she so graciously gave me credit (although my name was spelled wrong) for her books she made in a class i taught here in the villages at she scrapbooks.  i am grateful for the credit.

here is what patricia did with the things she learned in my class.  she made some beautiful books and i am so very proud of her!

making coasters

Some digital images from tumble fish studio at deviant scrap
today i was working on making coasters.  i had made some of these a long time ago and i used them quite a bit.  but over time, if people liked them i would tell them to take them, and one got lost in the move, so my stash seriously dwindled to three.  i am hoping to make nine so i can get back up to a dozen.  today i got four done, so it was a very good day.

my favorite shoes

the documented life project had this week's prompt as photographing or drawing your favorite pair of shoes.  i love my hafflinger wool clogs.  i've had them for nearly ten years and they are still going strong.  there is something about red shoes that just make you feel strong and powerful.  what color are your favorite shoes?

documented life project

i just completed the week 16 prompt for the dlp project.  the prompt was to use add a cardboard box in a creative way.  i used the top lid for a flap to sort of act like a roof on a house.  i do like interactive play in my journals and recycling is something i'm quite fond of doing in my art.

week #15 prompt - use monochromatic colors to create your page

a little trip north

my husband and i were blessed to be able to take a little trip up north recently to stay with my youngest son and his wife.  we were needed to babysit the kids for a bit. it was our first time to visit them in staten island. i'm glad my daughter-in-law was fearless in the face of that traffic. i admit i had to hold my breath and close my eyes a time or two til we made it to their house from the airport.
i took a few photos of my family with my phone while i was visiting.   when i got back home to florida i couldn't wait to print them out on my little happy printer my husband bought me for my birthday this year. gosh,  i just love that printer. it makes perfect sized photos to include in my journals. i made this double sided tip in for my documented life planner.
what a special way to remember our trip.  if there is anything better than the love of a good family and grandchildren hugs and kisses, i've yet to discover it.  i am truly blessed in so many ways.

roc nicholas rubber stamp guest designer

I'm so happy to have you meet Laura Liddell. Laura is one of this year's guest designer for the roc nicholas rubber stamp team. She lives with her partner, John, and her two daughters who are 17 and 19, in the Forest of Dean located in Gloucestershire, in the United Kingdom. Laura loves the area she lives in because it is situated on the borders of Herefordshire and Wales, and nestled between two salmon rivers, the River Severn and the River Wye.

Laura says she has always been creative and before her children were born she designed knitwear which was exported mainly to America and Japan. She credits her inspiration for her designs to the landscapes around her, taking colors from the changing seasons and countryside around her.

Several years ago Laura found herself in a position of not working. Due to her positive attitude and joy for life she became proactive and put her free time to learning many new things. She is currently starting a new business which is very time consuming. Laura confesses that she hasn't had the time to be as active in her studio as much as she would like due to the time she spends creating her new business.

She professes that she misses getting inky and messy, so as Laura says, "It was a real treat to be a guest designer for Roc this month as it made me make time for this creativity that I love. Thank you Roc for giving me this opportunity. I so enjoyed myself."

As you can see, Laura's approach to art using my rubber stamps is colorful, happy and clever.   You can find out more about Laura on her blog.  You can find out more about my stamp line at stampotique. com

it's monday PLUS a give away

it's that time once again, monday, to post over at the stampotique designer's blog. i've made an altered envelope, so once more,  i think i'll do a give away.  details are below.
to make the envelope i used quite a number of my rubber stamps.  they are:  squiggle arms, horse, flying heart, and for the top border i used the tail feathers of my rubber stamp flying bird.  i really enjoy using pieces of my rubber stamps to create new designs.  that is one reason i design them without too much frill - so they are easy to cut apart and piece.  i hope you find creative things to do with my rubber stamps.  why don't you share your creations on my roc nicholas rubber stamp facebook page and inspire others?
if you'd like to receive this envelope in the mail, all you have to do is leave a comment.  make sure i will have a way to get a hold of you.  sometimes there are no emails attached to comments.  if that happens i will just pick another lucky winner by random.  the drawing will be april 12th.  thanks and good luck!
