prayer flags

a few of my friends decided to get together and create a prayer flag a month for 2016.  i am not hanging mine outside, but rather, i am going to use them to create valances in my enclosed front porch.  i am excited about them.

this month the theme was "hope" and you had to include a "feather".

i didn't want a word to be the main focus so i stamped it on my feather.  i like the subtlety of it.  i am happy with how it turned out.
i will be using the same color scheme for all the flags.  all the backs will be muslin, so when people are outside it will look uniform.  i love the shabby look, with all the threads sticking about.  these will be wonderful to use up bits of ribbon and lace i've had stored for years.
i'm excited to make more.

2016 planner

it is always such a treat to start my planner for the new year.  this year is extra special to me because i am incorporating my bible studying into creating it.  i've always done what i thought was my best to strengthen my relationship with GOD but i have come to realize that perhaps my best hasn't really been my best after all.

seeking GOD is a daily, minute to minute, journey.  i'm asking myself many questions this year to bring god closer to me, such as:  do i pray before i react? am i judging?  am i allowing grace and forgiveness in all areas?  so i continue to seek GOD in every aspect of my life.

my week one is over and here are the transformations in my journal. to see my blank pages you can click here.

this is week one after i journaled my week:
last week the verse, "when i sit in darkness the LORD will be a light to me" was especially poignant.  there were moments of great darkness over the holiday for my husband and i.  we prayed through out the days and weeks, read our scriptures and attended church seeking HIS light.  i know HE has not forsaken me and i am at finally at peace.  i doubt i would have reached this place with out the blessing of HIS grace and mercy.

and now i'm on week two.  here are my seeking verses to contemplate for the week:

how is your planner coming along?  how are you seeking god?  i'd love to hear all about it if you feel like sharing with me.

my planner for the new year

happy new year's everyone.  it's going to be a fantastic year.  i just know it.  god always takes us exactly where we are suppose to go, even if sometimes we don't feel willing or able.

this year my planner is a bible-themed planner.  i have it all set up and ready to go, and i've already started writing my day in it.
i'd like to share it with you and perhaps you may feel motivated to follow along with your own version of a planner. i'm using a heidi swapp planner i bought last  year on sale at michaels.  i was working in it all along the last half of 2015 to get it ready for today.

each month i'm using a word and all scriptures on my pages will be in spirit with that word.  as the year unfolds the words will progress from "seek" to "salvation".   i hope you'll follow along to see just what those words are for each month.
january's word is seek.

this is the right side of the month-at-a-glance section

this is a close up of part of my january tabbed month divider
i can place family photos in this area, of make tiny scrapbook inserts in the plastic pouches
this is opening scripture verse fitting for the start of the new year

i have changed the purpose of this index.  i have made it a gratitude card.  at the end of every day i will record one thing i am grateful for.
this is the start of my first weekly page

i will be using the bottom areas to write scripture relating to my monthly word.  as you can see i've already got a couple filled in.
i hope you'll follow along and this year and be inspired by god's word.  i know i'm very excited about it!

the roc nicholas design team post

artwork by corrie herriman
happy new year everyone!!

today the roc nicholas design team post is brought to you by corrie herriman.  corrie has made a brilliant piece of art using my rubber stamps:  unleash yourself (she made her own 'w'),  scootergirlblessed skellie,  daisy head,  and heart vine.

i love how corrie has combine my images to make something of her own.  that's exactly how i intended for my rubber stamps to be used -- not a lot of frilly design work so you could easily cut them apart and mix up different heads and body parts to create something uniquely your own.

to see more about this piece of art, and more of corrie's work, please head on over to her blog by clicking here.
